Church of S. Maria dell'Orazione e Morte (prayer and death) in via Giulia, Rome.
This marble plate stands at the main entrance and represents an unburied body of a tillerman with the angel of death showing the winged hourglass representing the timelife ended (Memento Mori). The hole in the marble is made to put money inside the church, the inscription says: "ELEMOSI[NA] [PER] I POVERI MORTI CHE SI PIGLIANO IN CAMPAGNA. MDCXCIV" (Alms for the poor dead ones we find in countryside. 1694) The bishops of this church historically are devoted to bury the bodies found in countryside near Rome (don't ask me what they are supposed to do nowadays...). |

We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you  the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on.
